Penetrating the Deepest Level- "Jehovah" is God

having been there, most of us can see that the idea that "jehovah" is god, and a group that uses the name and even carries the name as a badge of honor (jehovah's witnesses) have a very deep level of belief in the religion and that virtually anything that tries to upset the belief causes great cognitive dissonance.

to even suggest that witnesses of [the named god] are wrong is just so heavy on their dissonance.

to suggest that a group of people that carries the name of their god are misleading is like suggesting that everything they know is wrong, gravity doesn't exist, up is down, the sun exploded.

Confessed my Doubts to my Wife

well - i today i had the opportunity to tell my wife i no longer believe in the things that i have spent my life immersed in and that i didn't want my life run by 9 geriatrics in brooklyn.. her reaction was understandable her first questions was "what have you been reading"?.

i didn't mention this site but told her i was shocked by something i heard regarding the wts's ngo status with the un, dissapointed by the new light on the generation and disturbed by the flip flopping on blood fractions.

i explained how these things were at best hypocritical and at worst have meant some people have lost their lives unnecessarily because of the societies previous position.

Well....... I've successfully faded....and continually bring these subjects up with my wife. But the issue for her runs WAYYY deeper. It's all about GUILT....parents, friends, siblings.

Even now she is constantly ruled by it.

Good luck to you...but be ready. This very well may be a lifelong journey out.

Going to any church for observance of a dead loved one is purely a conscience matter.....as is not going to your wedding......stop feeling sorry for yourself, and justifying your anger. Your relatives showed respect for a dead loved one.....and dis-approval of your decision to marry a non-believer...all in a "church"...ironic aint it?....get on with yer life...Sheesh.

I think I made "The List"

so jehovah's witnesses came to our door, this is about the fifth time, i always miss them, but they talk to my wife, this time i was home due to the holiday season, the man was an elder, he came with a newbie, thought he would show her "how's its done"), the young women sat there with mouth wide open, as she watched me beat up her elder with his own bible.

well after discussing the scriptures for about 2 hours, (subjects included: salvation, ransom, permission of evil, god's organization), she looked at me and said "amazing, i've never heard it explained quite that way before.".

the elder asked me what religious affiliations i had, i told him, "i am with the associated bible students.

Again I have to say..... The way that bro used the term 'You're the Anti-christ!' in the story IS NOT the way witnesses use that term, and would NOT have said that to ANYONE.......They believe it is not for them to judge....and would never have said that to anyone.... so again....BULLSHIT....sorry. Even Blondies quotes don't save this story.....and believe me .....I always love Blondies comments.

Witness fear of demons why?

during my ten year sojourn through the watchtower, i was always amazed at the witnesses fear and fascination with demons.

occasionally at gatherings, they would exchange "demon" stories, which were just a jw way of telling ghost stories, and you would usually hear a few "uhhs" and "oh my's" as the story was told.

although i had heard folks of other denominations mention demons, it was never with the "shock and awe" the witnesses put into it.

Dude.... I lost one of thee ALL TIME vinyl record collections because of this shit....... We moved out of state....and left a few things behind at my in-laws house to be gottin later after we had settled in.....well.....in no time at all my sister in law of a ripe old age of 17 began having nightmares...(she knew my records were in the garage), and attributed these said nightmares to my vinyl.....The parents(my in-laws) of Mexican descent...ie traditional Catholics gone full blown witnesses.....promptly gave all my albums to the good will store.... I'm talkin' first issue: Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, The Beatles (including colored limited release vinyl), Kiss, old 70's/80's Punk...ie Black Flag, Circle jerks, dead kennedys, doa,dri, the faction, jfa,the list is endless....Janis joplin, Crosby stills nash, and young.......Christ man.....I wanted to cry......someone....somewhere is stoked...because they picked up the whole kit, and cabutle .......shit.
